I've bought soooo many new kimono/obi/kimono items I'm not sure I can even list them all.

This is the new kimono and obi I bought from Ryu-japan. They are so pretty and will actually match with other pieces that I own. Yay!!! I actually have one more synthetic kimono I bought. Its a tad big though. I'll have to post that one when I have pics!!

Crappy shishi obi

I received my shishi obi yesterday. The first one with the stripes was beautiful but the other was terrible. It was old, wrinkled and had stains. I don't htink it was the one in the picture. I e-mailed the seller and he gave me a refund and told me to keep the obi his mistake. Thats nice but I'm out shipping. Oh well. I may take it apart and frame it as there is no hope to make it nice again. It will look pretty on the wall but its really too bad as it was once beautiful.

Still struggling with taiko obi

I've been trying to tie a taiko obi for quite some time now but it never works out well. I'm soooo frustrated. I have websites and books to teach me but I have trouble wrapping it. Grrrrrrrr. I have absolutely no trouble getting the kimono on/off. Am I dumb? Why can everyone else do it and not me. I'm kimono impaired. It's so sad because I have a ton of beautiful kimono but I just can get the obi on so that I can wear them.

New Shibori Kimono

I'm sooo happy. I have been trying to find the perfect shibori kimono for a long time. Now I finally found one. It was a tad expensive because someone inched up the bid at the last second. Kinda mean of them but its mine all mine!!!!!

On another sad note. My Iromuji from Ryu-Japan didn't come as expected with my order. He's looking into it now. I hope its okay. I really loved it. I'm so nervous about getting it. I don't know why because he is an awesome guy and will refund all my money if it was lost.

Weight loss

I'm on a mission to loose weight. Since starting work at my hospital I gained 15 pounds. I've only worked there a year so I'm afraid I will be very overweight soon. So I've been using my elliptical trainer every day and really watching what I eat. It's hard when the food at work is all junk.
I also want to fit into my kimono better. They are just a tad tight now. My current weight loss goal is 15 pounds. I think I can get back to feeling thin in two months or so. We'll see.

Well. Last night I bid on two shishi obis before I went to work. I really wanted one and figured that I'd loose so I bid on both. However I won them both instead. Oh well they are gorgeous and different from each other.

Here is my new shamisen. It just came today. Right now I'm getting used to holding everything properly. The music is pretty easy to read so hopefully I can get teh hang of it soon!!!!

Here is my Maru obi. It's the first obi I bought. I love the design.

This is my taisho set. I want to get a pale pink obiage/obijime and eventually a vintage red juban. I do have a taisho underkimono but its so fragile I'm afraid to wear it.

I'm so excited but I feel kind of foolish. I won this kimono but for a little more than I wanted to spend. Eeks. Once my finger hit the button I couldn't stop bidding.

A pre-WWII kimono I got from the internet quite a while ago. Its very soft and silky. I really like this one as well. I wonder if it's Taisho?

This is one of the first kimonos I bought. Its beautiful and pritine. I have to say one of my favorites. It crepe silk with a pink lining. I LOVE it.

One of the purple ones. Its nice but sadly has quite a bit of yellow staining. I may try to clean them. We'll see.

I've been trying to tie my nagoya obi for weeks now. Grrrrrrr. It's getting so frustrating. I've been using several on-line tutorials and I just can't get it wrapped right. Its looks so easy lol. Hmmmm. Maybe my obi is broken.

Here is the obijime I made for my taisho kimono and orange obi. I'm not sure if I quite like it. I was planning on pairing the obijime with a red obiage. Hmmm we'll see. I took tons of pictures while I was making the obijime last night and plan to post then later.

I'm on a mission to actually use this blog for its intended purpose instaed of just using it for photos soooo...... here it goes.
A little about me. I'm nurse on a neurology and neurosurgery at a large teaching hospital. Is hard work but I relax in my off time with my guy and my cute little beasty Max (shown above).
I also am obsessed with kimonos. I collect them and am attemping to learn how to wear them. I have pretty close to 30 pieces in my collection at this point. I keep threatening to wear them out but my man will have none of it lol. I hope to post some pictures of myself dressed in my newest set as soon as I get my obi right. I am also working on making a red and black obijime. I will post the process in detail when I start for those who want to learn about it.
